Advantages of using a non-gradient and non-capacitating medium

  • The capacitation of the spermatozoa is delayed until they are in the actual IVF medium with the oocytes
  • Spermatozoa preserve energy for the subsequent capacitation, acrosome reaction and fertilization
  • Potential toxic gradients and excessive centrifugation is avoided
  • The Semen Wash Medium also applies very well to sex-sorted semen
